Bangladesh female blogger seeks police protection

Dhaka: Blogger and Ganajagaran Mancha activist Shammi Huque has filed a general diary (GD) with Mohammadpur Police Station seeking protection as she felt a threat to her life.
The 23-year-old Shammi lodged the GD saying she had been followed by two youths on Thursday evening on the way to Dhanmondi from her Lalmatia residence.
Mohammadpur OC Jamal Uddin Mir confirmed filing of the GD.
Shammi writes blogs on website 'Istishan' (Station) against secularism and fundamentalism.
In the GD, she identified the suspects as one was dressed in jeans and check-shirt while the other in black trousers and white shirt was sporting a beard, said the OC.
He also said that they will take proper steps to ensure her security.
In the last attack on bloggers, Niloy was hacked to death in his own apartment in Dhaka, in front of his wife on August 7.
Secular bloggers Avijit Roy, Waesiqur Rahman Babu and Ananta Bijoy Das were killed in last five months.
