Japanese national shot dead in Rangpur
Barely a week into the killing of an Italian national in capital Dhaka, a Japanese national was gunned down by unknown miscreants at Alutari in Kaunia upazila on Saturday, reports news agency UNB.
The victim was identified as Osikonio, 55.
Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Kaunia Police Station, said a group of miscreants opened fire on Osikonio while he was walking on a road in the area around 10:45 am, leaving him critically injured.
He died on the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
However, the motive behind the killing could not be known immediately.
Earlier, on September, 28, Italian national Cesare Tavella, 50, an official of the Netherlands-based non-governmental organisation ‘ICCO Cooperation’, was shot to death by some miscreants at the end of Road No-90 of the diplomatic zone in Dhaka city’s Gulshan area.
